Home / Glossary / cradle scythe

A scythe is a tool that has a long handle with a long, curved blade attached to the end at a right angle. It is used for cutting grass or harvesting grain by hand. A cradle scythe is an attachment for the scythe that looks like a large claw. This attachment also gives the user of the tool more control in being able to neatly lay the grain down with all of the seed heads facing in the same direction.
