A man is walking behind a team of two horses, as they pull a plow that is being used to break up prairie soil. There's a clear difference between soil that has been plowed and soil that has not been plowed.

This photo was taken of a settler turning prairie sod in 1903. As you can see, there is a clear difference between the prairie of grass and the dirt right next to it that has been broken up with the plow that is being pulled by the teams of horses in this photo.
