An elk has its mouth open, making sounds for other elks to hear.

Elk are social animals and they love to talk! They will communicate with each other if they sense danger. Bugling is done when a bull elk wants to show the cow elk how to fit he is, warn other bulls to stay away or announce he is ready to fight! Elk will bark to warn about danger and they will chirp, mew, or squeal as a form of general communication!
